A man has been charged after he allegedly broke into an Ultra Tune mechanic shop with another masked man and caused a police chase through north-east Adelaide.
CCTV shows two men smashing their way into the store and frantically scanning the draws of the till on Helicon Drive in Golden Grove about 3am.
The break-in triggered an alarm that called police to the business.
CCTV shows them checking out neighbouring businesses before targeting the Ultra Tune store.
A police helicopter was called in to scour the surrounding suburbs for the vehicle.
"PolAir was quickly overhead and spotted the Ford sedan travelling on Park Terrace Salisbury," police said.
"It was followed through the back streets of Salisbury where it eventually stopped on the corner of Diment Road and Commercial Road where the driver and a passenger ran from the vehicle."
Police allegedly found cash from the break-in on the ground beside the car.
Business owner David said the two men went straight for the till, picked it up and threw it on the floor.
"The silly buggers, they put the money in a bag that had the business name on it," David said.
"And then when they were found by the police, it was pretty damning evidence that where it came from."
The alleged driver, a 40-year-old man of no fixed address, was found on Stratford Road.
His alleged passenger was unable to be located.
The alleged driver has been arrested and his vehicle was impounded and towed from the scene.
He has been charged with serious criminal trespass, theft and traffic offences.
He will face the Elizabeth Magistrates Court later today.
