Nearly 100 marijuana plants have been seized by police after they were found in remote South Australian bushland.
Officers found 98 cannabis plants, ranging in size from one to three metres tall, being grown across three crop sites within the Coorong, which is a lagoon area at the mouth of the Murray River about 80kms from Adelaide.
Police working with National Parks and Wildlife staff seized the plants from the Crown Land about 10.30am yesterday.
Officers said they found "considerable damage" had been caused to vegetation as a result of clearing space for the cannabis plants.
"The use of Crown Land by criminal groups shows disregard for the natural environment for the sole purpose of trading in illicit drugs," Detective Chief Inspector David Huddy said.
All plants have been seized and the investigation is ongoing.
