A 44-year-old man has been charged over a historic armed robbery that took place almost 24 years ago in Perth.
At about 10.45pm on May 8, 2001, a man, aged in his 30s as the time, was at home in Mosman Park when two men entered his residence through an open front door.
It will be alleged that one of the intruders armed himself with a kitchen knife and threatened the victim, demanding money and personal property.
The two men stole a number of items, including mobile phones, cash, and cigarettes, before leaving.
The men were not known to the occupant and the investigation at the time failed to identify any suspects.
Almost 24 years later, detectives recently re-examined an item of interest with new forensic technology, which allegedly showed a positive match for a 44-year-old man.
On January 24 this year, detectives charged the 44-year-old man with aggravated armed robbery and deprivation of liberty.
He will next appear in court on March 15.
